What happened to my summer?
I haven't been as diligent with this blog as I thought I would be. My unrealistic plan was to completely plan this wedding by the end of summer (and of course, constantly update this blog with my amazingly quick progress...). None of that happened. Instead we:

we are REALLY getting married
Emo adrienne and emo brendan spent sunday at golden gardens park. (it was too unnaturally sunny for us Seattlites to look up at the camera.)
In other (big) news... WE BOOKED OUR WEDDING VENUE!
BRAZILIAN ROOM, TILDEN PARK, BERKELEY JUNE 23, 2011
We can't wait. Now we just need to find a caterer, a florist, a photographer, a dj, etc...... sigh.
We do have an engagement photographer set though... our lovely friend Mary. Should be a good time.

a comment on the cranes
Making 1,000 paper cranes is a Japanese tradition for good luck. I remember helping to fold them for my Aunt's wedding. I think it would be a nice gesture to have at our wedding and I think that my family wants to help fold (get started early!). I just need to find a good place to work them in to the wedding, be it in the table decorations, the ceremony decor, or somewhere else.
One thought on that -what about arranging the strands as a curtain for the background of a photo-booth? Too rude for something that symbolic? Or neat because then they would be incredibly well documented in photos?
here's a nice photo-booth set up from Martha Stewart Weddings. I've seen cute ones where chalkboards are provided for messages... perhaps an alternative to a guest book?

various thoughts

All of the venues I am looking at are outdoor venues, so I have been thinking about wedding arches (and how I dislike them). I am trying to think of alternatives to the traditious trellis and I thought the picture at the left might have some promising ideas. I'm imagining a tall wood planter (DIY?) with tall branches (manzanita?) in it. Ignore the huge white poufs of flowers in the photos, I would image someithing lighter and simpler. Perhaps this is a place to work in the 1,000 paper cranes that we are planning to fold for good luck.
Brendan has not seen/heard about this idea yet.
I just thought these two cake toppers were absolutely adorable. Another DIY moment perhaps. Of course, I would have to get a half-size doll for to match my proportion to Brendan.
Finally, I just love this color scheme. Grey and yellow is just so fresh and simple.
